Greater Manchester law firm Gorvins has reported a 15 per cent rise in revenues to £9.9m.

The figure for the year ending November 2019 is up on £8.5m in the prior year.

Over a twelve-month period, growth has been reported across a wide range of practice areas, led by conveyancing, up by 43 per cent, employment, up by 24 per cent and corporate and commercial, which grew by 14 per cent.

The Stockport-headquartered law firm has also continued its recruitment efforts and now employs over 150 people, its highest figure to date.

Since the start of last year, Gorvins has made a number of senior appointments, promoting Nicola Fraser as partner and head of family and matrimonial law, Danielle Ayres as partner in the employment team; and Claire Beaumont as co-head of commercial property.

Kerry Sharples, deputy head of residential property, was also made the first non-solicitor fee earning partner in the firms one hundred and sixty-year history – the first to hold such a position in any of the firm’s legal departments.

Gorvins also celebrated its success in the Legal 500, which saw the firm retain its top tier ranking in four of its practice areas - commercial property, corporate & commercial and commercial litigation and employment for employee/union firms.

The 2020 guide also recommended a further ten practice areas within the law firm, and four senior team members were recognised as ‘leading lawyers’

Managing partner, Martin Hoare, said: “2019 was a standout year for Gorvins, and this has been reflected through the growth of both revenues and our ever-expanding team.

“Our strategy remains simple – deliver great quality legal services to our clients and the rest will follow.

“Our financial results are testimony to the quality, hard work and dedication of our partners and staff and we look forward to continued success this year, which has already begun with 14 per cent growth in the traditionally quiet first two months of this financial year, compared with last year. Four departments enjoyed double-digit growth, led by the Litigation team.”
