The Hollywood owners of Wrexham AFC Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds have sold a minority stake in the club to US global alternative asset manager Apollo Sports Capital.

The American venture , which specialises in sport investment, is an affiliate of New York Stock Market listed Apollo. The Hollywood actors will retain control as majority owners of as joint chairs, with Apollo providing funding towards the , including the new Kop stand.

The value of the investment by the new minority shareholders into the Championship club has not been disclosed.

In a joint statement, Wrexham AFC co-chairmen said, "From day one, we wanted to build a sustainable future for Wrexham Association Football Club. And to do it with a little heart and humour. The dream has always been to take this club to the Premier League while staying true to the town.

"Growth like that takes world-class partners who share our vision and ambition, and Apollo absolutely does. We have known Al Tylis, the chief executivbe of Apollo Sports Capital, for many years and are thrilled to now have ASC join the Wrexham family as we take the next step forward together."
