Directors at a Leicestershire livestock food supplier are taking part in a 1,000 mile tuk-tuk challenge for charity. The team from GLW Feeds, in Shepshed, hopes to complete the challenge in just four days, visiting counties including Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, Warwickshire and Gloucestershire.

Directors George White, Jamie McDonagh, Graham Palmer and Louis White will be stopping off at some of the key customers on the way and hope to raise £20,000.

As well as raising money for three good causes – the Air Ambulance, Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institute and St Dorcas Children’s Educational Centre – the event also celebrates the firm’s 150 th year in business. A Go Fund Me page has already hit £9,100.

A spokesman for the business said: “GLW Feeds is passionate about supporting these worthy causes and will be fundraising consistently throughout the year with various events.

“The company is appealing for donations from the public to help them reach their £20,000 target.

“Every £100 raised could save a person’s life, help a farming family in need, or give a constant supply of clean water to orphaned children in Kenya.”

Donors can contribute to their fundraising efforts by visiting GLW Feed's ‘Go Fund Me’ page at https://www.gofundme.com/f/glw-150-years-fundraising-for-3-worthy-causes.

The business is also hosting a silent auction from the end of September through to the end of the year to raise further funds.

Lots donated by GLW Feeds' customers and friends include family farm passes, a tour around Old Trafford and an England shirt signed by the 2023 Lioness world cup squad.

GLW Feeds dates back to 1873 and is one of the biggest independent, family-owned livestock and speciality feed manufacturers in the Ƶ, concentrating in roll, nut, pellet, and meal-form compound feeds.
