Grimsby鈥檚 Royal Dock has been added to a 海角视频 fishing company鈥檚 regular landing list, with a third discharge this year.
North Atlantic Fishing Company subsidiary Wirons Ltd, has just made its latest port call with Wiron Six, a 55m seine net trawler. She landed pelagic species caught in 海角视频 waters, calling on a clutch of companies in the area to get the catch to market.
The crew landed horse mackerel, mackerel, blue whiting, and herring, freezing at sea, with the owners holding it up as a further endorsement of the economic link criteria that has been set out by the government as part of its quota commitment.

Phil Haslam, managing director at North Atlantic Holdings, with offices in Hull and Surrey, said: 鈥淔ishing and more broadly, the seafood sectors, are an essential part of communities like Grimsby. It is fantastic to be able to berth and discharge our vessels in a British port and to export from the 海角视频 to customers worldwide all in support of the 海角视频鈥檚 fishing industry. We landed our vessels into Hull last summer and are proud to be able to extend our 海角视频 operations to Grimsby.鈥
Wirons Six, registered in Hull, had sailed from Holland, and the company worked with ABP, Grimsby agent John Sutcliffe and Son and associated stevedores, ACS&T cold stores, Edge Worldwide Logistics and Immingham-based Maritime Transport Services.

鈥淭he fishing industry is facing significant challenges due to spatial squeeze, increasing regulation and climate change concerns,鈥 Mr Haslam said. 鈥 At North Atlantic Holdings we take pride in supporting the 海角视频's fishing sector and promoting global food security in developing countries. Our sustainably sourced pelagic fish have the lowest carbon footprint among animal protein and are some of the most cost-effective food options available. By fishing sustainably and responsibly, we supply high-quality fish to ensure the food security of millions of people.鈥
Seafood expertise shines in Norway
Grimsby expertise was welcomed at the North Atlantic Seafood Conference.
Around 50 seafood delegates from the 海角视频, the majority from Grimsby, have just returned from the high profile Norwegian event.
Held in Bergen, and attracting more than 800 senior delegates, it covered a wide range of topics associated with the global seafood sector including land-based salmon farming, global whitefish supplies and sustainability.
Speaking at the sustainability seminar was Hilton Seafoods鈥 CSR director, Nigel Edwards, with Andrew Allchurch, Young鈥檚 Seafood head of buying, addressing a whitefish seminar. Simon Smith, vice chair of Young鈥檚 owner Sofina Foods (Europe), presented at the popular investor seminar. He also took the opportunity to talk about the Seafood Grimsby & Humber Alliance cluster group which he chairs, and shared with the conference the group鈥檚 vision to enhance the competitiveness of the regional seafood cluster through improving trade, investing in skills and having a 海角视频 wide joined up approach on carbon monitoring in the seafood processing sector.
Simon Dwyer, who represents the North Atlantic Seafood Forum in the 海角视频 and is secretariat of Grimsby Fish Merchants鈥 Association, playing a key role in the cluster development, said: 鈥淭he three day conference was well attended by seafood businesses from across the globe with many of them supplying fish and seafood into Grimsby. Buyers of seafood based in Grimsby were able to meet suppliers from South Africa, Chile, Norway, Iceland, Greece and Alaska. The conference covers a broad range of topics and this year introduced new topics focusing on industry technology and land-based salmon farming. It was interesting to see how much engagement there was in the land-based salmon farming seminar and its future growth potential linked to food security.鈥
Plans have been revealed for a plant to be built as an extension to the Grimsby Seafood Village, in northern Cleethorpes.
North Atlantic Seafood Forum managing director, Andre Akse, said "Outside of Norway the 海角视频 is our most significant contributor to the conference. The knowledge, insight and market expertise especially, from Grimsby, is always well received by our delegates. We're delighted that Nigel, Andrew and Simon addressed the conference."
It comes as Grimsby looks forward to hosting The International Cold Water Prawn Forum next year.
