A baker and chocolatier has placed his popular artisan bakery on Anglesey up for sale as he eyes his next step.

Benjamin Lee has successfully built up Becws Mefus over more than a decade - with a production hub and shops in Llangefni.

He has now placed the bakery on the market - although insists it is business as usual until a sale is secured.

The decision has come as he moves to develop a new bakery and holiday let in Llandudno, where he wants to focus on 鈥渨ild yeast鈥� bread making and finer patisserie.

He said: 鈥淚鈥檓 44 and ready for the next stage of my baking life. The business has been a goldmine and is a great investment for someone.

鈥淏ut I鈥檓 at a stage in life where I鈥檓 looking for something more creative, slowing things down but also in terms of taking more time on the quality. It is partly a lifestyle choice.

鈥淚鈥檝e never lost interest in that side of baking and also teaching other people skills and I want to do more of this.

鈥淭here is no rush to sell the existing business, it has done very well over the years and I want to reassure customers and staff that it is business as usual while we look for a sale.鈥�

Ben is developing a Victorian property in Craig-y-Don, Llandudno, into a bakery with a holiday let in the floors above.

He hopes to open in the latter part of the summer with more details due to be released as they get closer to opening.

He said: 鈥淭here is no pressure to open, it is about getting it done properly rather than rushing to meet a deadline. It is self financed.

鈥淚f we haven鈥檛 sold on Anglesey then we can keep running both businesses.

鈥淭his will be a positive, there is the opportunity for further employment. We are also working with other local businesses.

"I鈥檓 going down a new path and this could be dynamite.鈥�

Becws Mefus is on the market with Williams and Goodwin for 拢500,000.
