A 海角视频 aviation coalition has called for sustainable flight to be at the heart of the Government鈥檚 green recovery plan.
The ask for a commitment of 拢500 million to early stage projects, comes just days after a similarly valued green jet fuel plant received planning consent on the Humber bank.
Altalto Immingham, the Velocys venture backed by British Airways and Shell, is highlighted in a letter to Transport Secretary Grant Shapps.
It focuses on building a world-leading green aviation sector, combining with action on aircraft and engine technology research and development, airspace modernisation and carbon offset and removal.

Sustainable Aviations states is will help contribute to a wider 海角视频 green recovery, helping the 海角视频 bounce back from Covid-19
Adam Morton, chair of Sustainable Aviation, said: 鈥淚n February this year, 海角视频 aviation committed to net zero emissions by 2050 and laid out a plan to achieve this through investing in cleaner aircraft and engine technology, smarter flight operations, sustainable aviation fuels and high-quality carbon offsets and removals.

鈥淭hree months on, these actions all remain essential to delivering sector wide decarbonisation, particularly given the role 海角视频 aviation can play as an engine for rebuilding the economy. But to capitalise on these opportunities we need urgent action from the Government, particularly to support the commercialisation of sustainable aviation fuel technology in the 海角视频.鈥
There have been mixed developments in recent months, with a project between Rolls-Royce and Airbus to create an experimental hybrid-electric aircraft canned, while sustainable oil substitution appears to be progressing.
Altalto Immingham would be Europe鈥檚 first municipal waste-to-jet fuel facility, located at Stallingborough, North East Lincolnshire.
Up to 拢500 million could be invested close to existing refineries, on the outskirts of Grimsby.

Hundreds of thousands of tonnes of black bin bag rubbish would be converted using developed technology by the Oxford University spin-out, that merged with a US tech company.
A similar plant is being developed Stateside.聽
Following the approval, Velocys director Dr Neville Hargreaves outlined key asks from government aimed at providing further investor certainty in the market, including tweaks to the Renewable Transport Fuel Obligation and the 海角视频 Guarantees Scheme.
