An Essex-based appliances business has rescued a fridge and freezer brand after its former Gloucestershire-based owner went into administration.
Cookology has acquired Iceking from Tewkesbury's Domestic Appliance Distributors (DAD) in a bid to strengthen its presence in the independent retail market. John Gillman & Sons (Electrical), trading as DAD, collapsed in August.
The acquisition includes all Iceking stock currently in the 海角视频, along with products ready for dispatch from the factory.
Cookology has already placed new orders with manufacturing partners, while integration of stock and operations into Cookology鈥檚 systems is under way.
Iceking, which is a 30-year-old brand, will continue to operate under its existing name while Duncan Williams, who has worked with Iceking for more than 13 years, has joined as head of trade sales.
Andrew Wright, managing director at Cookology, said: 鈥淚ceking is a trusted and recognised name in the 海角视频 appliance market, and we鈥檙e delighted to bring it under the Cookology umbrella.
"Our priority is to reassure trade partners that it鈥檚 business as usual, and that we鈥檙e committed to breathing new life and growth into the Iceking brand.
"We鈥檝e built strong relationships with the factories that have supported Iceking for many years, and we鈥檒l continue to invest in the brand to strengthen its position in the independent retail channel.鈥
Mr Williams added: 鈥淭his acquisition represents a fantastic opportunity to revitalise Iceking while maintaining the values and relationships that have made the brand so respected.
"Cookology鈥檚 support and investment will allow us to build on Iceking鈥檚 strong foundation, ensuring our partners continue to receive the quality, reliability, and service they鈥檝e come to expect.
"I鈥檓 looking forward to working closely with our independent retailers and buying groups to take the brand to the next level.鈥
