Start-up businesses are being invited to apply for the latest Ignite pre-accelerator programme taking place in Newcastle.
Ignite has run two successful pre-accelerators since it returned to the North East last year, and is now looking for more firms to join its next intake.
The organisation is particularly interested in hearing from tech start-ups that have a focus on ageing or using immersive technology.
The programme provides three months of support and desk space in Gateshead鈥檚 Baltic Quarter as well as access to PROTO鈥檚 immersive lab facilities. The firms can also secure 拢15,000 of investment to develop their business.
Tristan Watson, founder of Ignite, said: 鈥淪ince we came home to Newcastle where we launched in 2011, we鈥檝e run two successful programmes and met some fantastic entrepreneurs. We know there is so much talent and innovation in the North East and we鈥檙e delighted that we鈥檙e here with our next programme to continue to support, develop and grow that.

鈥淲ith funding, office space, access to the very latest technology, and all the help from mentors and experts, our pre-accelerator programme really is the best all-round support any entrepreneur needs to get their idea off the ground.鈥
The programme will run from September 2019, with Ignite working alongside Northstar Ventures and the North East Innovation Fund to deliver the scheme.
Alex Buchan, investment director at Northstar Ventures, said, 鈥淲e want to find the North East鈥檚 best innovators and start-ups and we know the Ignite team are experts in doing this and running programmes that support testing out and growing innovative businesses. We鈥檙e very pleased to be working with them again and I look forward to seeing more of the best, most exciting ideas and entrepreneurs in the region develop.鈥
Since it launched, Ignite has supported more than 200 companies through its accelerator programmes across the 海角视频. These firms have collectively raised more than 拢50m.
One firm that has taken part in the pre-accelerator is Durham鈥檚 Fumarii Technologies. The company鈥檚 software automatically speeds up and saves memory on people鈥檚 computers, which can be important for freelancers and students.
Since taking part in the scheme the company has secured angel investment to develop its platform and opened an office in Silicon Valley.
