The Spanish businessman behind a new takeover bid for Derby County FC has promised fans a return to the good times.
Erik Alonso, who owns management company WBD Sports, is in line to take control of the Championship club on behalf of his company No Limits Sports Ltd.
The deal to buy the side, which is managed by England legend Wayne Rooney, will need approval from the EFL.
The Rams are currently trying to secure their Championship status with relegation still a possibility. They are 18th in the table ahead of Saturday鈥檚 game against Norwich City.
It was announced on Wednesday that Mr Alonso and current Rams owner Mel Morris had come to an agreement to transfer ownership.
It comes just weeks after an earlier takeover 鈥 by the cousin of Manchester City owner Sheikh Mansour 鈥 fell through.
Mr Alonso was linked with a takeover of Sheffield Wednesday in the New Year but nothing came of that.
The businessman took to social media on Wednesday night to promise that 鈥榯he good times will return鈥 to Derby fans.
An earlier statement said he had reached the agreement with Mr Morris to take charge of the club.
