Primark has announced plans to open a new store in Salisbury in Wiltshire, which is expected to create 100 jobs.

The retail giant is set to occupy a 29,700 sq ft unit at the Old George Mall shopping centre in the cathedral city, and is scheduled to arrive in summer 2023.

Investment management firm Railpen, which manages the high street mall, said the 鈥渁nchor signing鈥 demonstrated its 鈥渟ignificant confidence in and commitment鈥 to Salisbury.

"The signing of Primark will be an excellent anchor store for the Old George Mall and has been a long-sought-after addition to the centre among consumers," said Matthew Howard, head of property asset aanagement at Railpen.

鈥淭he store will drive footfall and serve to reinforce Old George Mall鈥檚 position as the prime retail destination in Salisbury.鈥

Primark said its second opening in Wiltshire, adding to its store in Swindon, was part of an ambitious expansion programme.

The discount fashion brand firm is looking to boost its global portfolio of more than 400 stores - including around 190 outlets in the 海角视频 - to 530 in the next five years.

Time Retail Partners acted for Railpen in negotiations while CBRE represented Primark.

Railpen acts as the investment manager of the railways pensions schemes and is responsible for the management of around 拢37bn.

The Old George Mall has 40 retail units, with current occupiers including M&S, The Body Shop, and Wiltshire-headquartered firms WH Smith and Nationwide.
