Sturgess Motor Group has sold its Leicester Jaguar Land Rover dealership to the Marshall Motor Group.

The new and used car showroom has been based in Narborough Road for the past decade or so since it relocated from Walnut Street, closer to the city centre.

The dealership – which had been part of the family-owned Sturgess business for 75 years – takes the Constellation Automotive Group-owned Marshall’s JLR portfolio to 10 sites.

It comes three years after Sturgess sold its Leicester Volvo site to Hinckley-based TMS.

Sturgess chairman Chris Sturgess said: “After representing both brands for over 75 year respectively, it was a very significant move for us to make though somewhat inevitable.

“I am incredibly proud of our achievements with the Jaguar and Land Rover brands over the decades.

“We have met and got to know some superb people within our industry, customers have become friends, we have dealt with many very significant products, promoted the brands in a sensible and above all, responsible way, built great premises to exhibit and service the products and generally had a lot of enjoyment.

“Some truly great memories and thank you to all those people who have helped make them.
