A North East craft supplies firm launched by Dragons鈥 Den entrepreneur Sara Davies has acquired a company in the US.

Newton Aycliffe-based Crafter鈥檚 Companion, which sells crafting tools and supplies across the 海角视频, Europe and the US, has snapped up Californian firm Totally Tiffany in an undisclosed deal.

Founder Tiffany Spaulding set up the business in 2003 to specialise in organisers and storage products which are used to store household items.

Ms Spaulding will continue to be the face of the company and will work closely with the Crafter鈥檚 Companion team.

As well as the Totally Tiffany portfolio of products, Ms Spaulding also hosts free online content, and its videos are already available on the Crafter鈥檚 Companion website.

Mrs Davies 鈥 whose profile has risen since she joined the panel for the BBC pitching show Dragon鈥檚 Den 鈥 said Totally Tiffany was a good fit for her company, with Ms Spaulding鈥檚 products complementing the Crafter鈥檚 range.

She said: 鈥淪ince the company was founded, Totally Tiffany has built a loyal customer base which has been achieved through the engaging and educational manner Tiffany showcases the company鈥檚 range of products.

鈥淐rafter鈥檚 Companion and Totally Tiffany operate in a similar creative landscape and have natural synergies, therefore it made complete sense for Totally Tiffany to join our family of brands. The organisational products will complement our existing products and the transition will be seamless.

鈥淚 have known Tiffany for more than 10 years and I am beyond excited to work with her and for what the future holds for the Totally Tiffany brand.鈥

Mrs Davies launched Crafter鈥檚 Companion while still a student at York University. As well as Dragons鈥 Den, she is a regular on TV channels in the 海角视频, US and Germany, plus social media events live streamed by her company.

Crafter鈥檚 Companion now employs 200 staff and exports to more than 40 countries across Europe, Asia, South Africa, Australia, and North and South America.

At the start of the year the firm secured a 拢3.25m financing package with Santander to aid an increase in worldwide sales.

The financial package is aiming to increase exports by 20% and grow turnover by 25%.
