A new e-bike hire business has successfully launched after the pandemic saw a keen cyclist ditch plans to go on a South American road trip.
Harry Pemberton opened his electric bike hire business Snowdonia Bikes in early April.
It was just in time for the bike-craze which ensued after the Covid lockdown ended.
The business is situated in the town of Llanrwst overlooking the picturesque Gwydir Forest, where most of Snowdonia Bike鈥檚 customers take their hired e-bikes.
Harry, the owner of Snowdonia Bikes, said: 鈥淚 opened in April 2021 after twiddling my thumbs for a while.
鈥淚 was supposed to be cycle touring down the Andes but that obviously didn鈥檛 happen.
鈥淲ith all these steep hills around, e-bike hire seemed like a good idea.
鈥淚 found the location whilst stopping for a coffee on a bike ride and just decided to go for it.鈥
It has proved a major success so far as Wales enjoyed a bumper summer and more people came here looking for an active holiday.
Harry added: 鈥淚n the future I鈥檇 like to expand the business to offer sales and mechanics, but most importantly I want to keep cyclists coming to Llanrwst as it is such a fantastic place to be, whatever type of bike you want to ride.
鈥淚t鈥檚 been a great first season and I鈥檓 really looking forward to the next one.鈥
Llanrwst Councillor Aaron Wynne welcomed the business to the town and congratulated Harry on a successful launch of the venture.
Cllr Wynne said: 鈥淟lanrwst is the perfect place to launch an e-bike hire business as we鈥檙e in touching distance of the mountain-bike trails of the Gwydir Forest.
鈥淚鈥檓 pleased Snowdonia Bikes has had a very successful launch, and I look forward to seeing the business grow and develop.
鈥淎s we welcome visitors back to the Conwy Valley next year, I hope people will take advantage of this great new business in Llanrwst.
鈥淚 wish Harry all the best for the future.鈥
