A baker and chocolatier has placed his popular artisan bakery on Anglesey up for sale as he eyes his next step.

Benjamin Lee has successfully built up Becws Mefus over more than a decade - with a production hub and shops in Llangefni.

He has now placed the bakery on the market - although insists it is business as usual until a sale is secured.

The decision has come as he moves to develop a new bakery and holiday let in Llandudno, where he wants to focus on “wild yeast” bread making and finer patisserie.

He said: “I’m 44 and ready for the next stage of my baking life. The business has been a goldmine and is a great investment for someone.

“But I’m at a stage in life where I’m looking for something more creative, slowing things down but also in terms of taking more time on the quality. It is partly a lifestyle choice.

“I’ve never lost interest in that side of baking and also teaching other people skills and I want to do more of this.

“There is no rush to sell the existing business, it has done very well over the years and I want to reassure customers and staff that it is business as usual while we look for a sale.”
