Work has started on a new 拢20 million scheme of build to rent family homes in Leicester.
Newtown Living is putting up 51 houses and 25 apartments in the city鈥檚 Waterside regeneration area.
The Wolsey Island site, which has been named Lock 44, is the final parcel of disused land at Abbey Meadows close to the city鈥檚 science and technology hub, Space Park Leicester, that is available for development. The island sites between the Grand Union Canal and the River Soar.
Build to rent is an emerging new sector in the 海角视频, but already popular in large parts of Europe and North America and designed to respond to soaring demand for quality rental housing.

鈥淭he new neighbourhood at Lock 44 has been designed with plenty of green space, trees, gated and turfed rear gardens for all houses, off-road parking, plus designated and/or permitted parking spaces for the apartments.

Lock 44 will offer two, three and four bedroom houses available to rent from 拢950 per month.
The one, two and three bedroom apartments, which have been designed within the former Rocket Studios building that used to occupy the site, will be available from 拢750 per month.
Properties will be ready to move into in autumn 2021.
Newtown Living also plans to bring forward further built to rent family housing schemes in Mountsorrel and Melton Mowbray 鈥 both in north Leicestershire.
