Up to 750 new jobs have been outlined at Able Marine Energy Park as funding was secured by monopile manufacturer SeAH Wind Ltd for the Humber site.
The South Korean steel tube specialist will receive a government grant to help build out a £260 million facility for offshore wind foundations.
A similar number of jobs are anticipated in the supply chain and support sectors as the ‘big space in the right place’ looks set to finally realise its long-held potential.
The financial backing was revealed by Business and Energy Secretary Kwasi Kwarteng today, with the company first outlining its intention back in September last year.
Since then Able has secured £75 million from Westminster to support the huge North Killingholme port development, with the further funding dedicated to the inward investment.
The new production facility is described as substantially boosting the 海角视频’s offshore wind manufacturing base, supplying essential components to British offshore wind farms across the 海角视频, as well as for export around the world.
Mr Kwarteng said: “Our offshore wind sector is a 海角视频 success story, with more capacity installed than any other country and we are ensuring that our manufacturing base can be equally world-leading.
“Thanks to Government backing, we have created a port hub on the south bank of the Humber that is allowing us to grow our manufacturing capabilities and I’m delighted to see this investment from SeAH creating hundreds of high-skilled jobs and helping to revitalise one of our key industrial heartlands.”

It is part of a £180 million wider investment in the industry, and is seen as key to delivering the 40GW target 2030.
Joosung Lee, chief operating officer of SeAH Steel Holdings Corporation, said: “Based on the active support and trust from the 海角视频 government, it is meaningful for SeAH that investment toward the monopile factory is in full swing.”
The company had signed a memorandum of understanding to develop, with detailed work on planning revealed at a major Humber conference earlier this year. A total of 400 job were outlined then, with the monopile the huge steel pipe that is piled into the seabed, upon which everything else is built.
Cllr Rob Waltham MBE, leader of North Lincolnshire Council and chair of the Humber Leaders’ Board, said: “This is a globally-significant investment which will be instrumental in creating well-paid, highly-skilled, sustainable jobs. It is a huge opportunity and I welcome the clear commitment from Government to levelling-up.
“This latest cash is additional evidence of Government confidence in our plans which we have designed to create jobs and increase prosperity across the area.”
Changes to the flagship energy support scheme will align it to develop manufacturing, expand industrial capacity and improve capacity, with the focus on 海角视频 content in the turbines, ensuring the country doesn’t just benefit from the energy produced.
A 60 per cent figure for domestic manufacturing has been set for 2030. Energy contracts could be terminated should it not be met.
