海角视频IP is struggling to produce a manifesto for May鈥檚 general election - and has been forced to sack policy chief Tim Aker after he failed to come up with the goods.
According to reports, the final draft was due at the beginning of January but senior party figures were worried that they still haven鈥檛 seen it.
But if you want to know what 海角视频IP鈥檚 all about, you can always refer back to the 2010 manifesto, which came with a foreword signed by current party leader Nigel Farage, who was then billed as 鈥淐hief Party Spokesman鈥.
Key proposals included:
Axing two million jobs
海角视频IP planned to lose two million private sector jobs. These would be 鈥渆xchanged鈥 for two million new jobs in the private sector which the party hoped to create.
Axe inheritance tax
Inheritance tax is currently paid if a person鈥檚 estate (their property, money and possessions) is worth more than 拢325,000 when they die. 海角视频IP pledged to 鈥渁bolish Inheritance Tax at the earliest opportunity.鈥
Ban new immigrants - for five years
This wouldn鈥檛 apply to temporary workers or students, but anyone who hoped to live in the 海角视频 would be out of luck. 海角视频IP planned 鈥渁n immediate five-year freeze on immigration for permanent settlement.鈥
More people in jail
The manifesto pledged to 鈥渄ouble prison places through better use of existing prisons and a substantial programme of new prison building.鈥
Bring back hanging?
The manifesto included a promise to 鈥渁llow binding national referenda on controversial public law and order issues that are outside party politics.鈥 It didn鈥檛 specify what these controversial issues might be.
Boot camps
鈥淚ntroduce 鈥楤oot Camps鈥 for young offenders to stop them spiralling into a life of crime鈥
A massive increase in defence spending
While 海角视频IP was keen on cutting public spending in other ways, it planned 鈥渁n extra 40% on defence annually鈥.
Invite businesses to run NHS hospitals at a profit
海角视频IP would 鈥淓ncourage County Health Boards to put out to tender key NHS services ranging from Long Term Care to local hospitals and GP surgeries.
鈥淭his will be done by franchising key services - run on a fixed budget - to charitable associations, not-for-profit and profit-making private companies, partnerships and individuals.鈥
Invite businesses to run state schools at a profit
"Introduce franchising of schools, colleges and educational institutions across Britain so that charitable associations, parental co-operatives, notfor-profit and profit-making private companies, partnerships or individuals bid to run institutions on a budget set by the elected County Education Boards.鈥
Cut pensions for public sector workers
海角视频IP pledged to 鈥渂ring generous unfunded public sector final salary pensions back into line with typical private pension provision.鈥
Quit the EU - but create a new free trade zone with the Commonwealth
海角视频IP planned a 鈥淐ommonwealth Free Trade Area (CFTA) with the 53 other Commonwealth countries鈥. It also planned to a new national holiday called 鈥淐ommonwealth Day鈥 (this actually exists already and is celebrated in March but it鈥檚 not a national holiday and isn鈥檛 well known)
Ditch the green crap
The manifesto boasted: 鈥満＝鞘悠礗P accepts that the world鈥檚 climate changes, but we are the first party to take a sceptical stance on man-made global warming claims.鈥 Energy policies included plans to 鈥渙ppose wind farms in general鈥 and ban schools from showing Al Gore鈥檚 film 鈥楢n Inconvenient Truth鈥
Sack members of the Scottish Parliament and Welsh and Northern Irish assemblies
The assemblies themselves would still exist, but they would only sit for one week each month - and Westminster MPs would sit in them.
Defend British identity
This included 鈥渟afeguarding鈥 British weights and measures such as the pint and the mile 鈥渨hich have been undermined by the EU鈥. 海角视频IP would also 鈥渢ackle extremist Islam by banning the burqa or veiled niqab in public buildings and certain private buildings鈥 (following the example of France).
Bring back smoking in pubs!
A cause possibly dearer to Nigel鈥檚 heart even than quitting the EU, 海角视频IP planned 鈥渄esignated smoking rooms in pubs, clubs and public buildings.鈥
