Nottingham e-bike company WAU opens new factory with dream of growing workforce to 400

Co-founder Linas Pozerskis: 'Our plans include growing our workforce to 200-400 employees and creating a giga site'

The WAU X-Bike

Nottingham-based e-bike company WAU has opened a new factory in Essex, as it grows to meet surging demand.

The site, which opened last month in South Woodham Ferrers, took more than a year to develop, and is already accommodating a big rise in orders as riders to enjoy a summer of freedom and avoid public transport.

Six full-time engineers have been taken on as well as two people to oversee outgoing shipments across the º£½ÇÊÓƵ.

Founders Linas Pozerskis and Crystal Drury are already preparing for the next phase of WAU’s growth with plans to move into another expansion site, within the next year, which will be close by to its new central plant in Essex.

Beeston based WAU was founded in 2017 by Linas Pozerskis and Crystal Drury and its latest model is called the WAU X Plus.

Mr Pozerskis said: “We’re delighted to open a new factory in Essex, we’re located right on the doorstep of one of the most demanding areas for e-bikes.

“Our products appeal to commuters, tourers, and couriers alike, across urban areas, and London’s bustling metropolis is the ideal location to launch our very exciting innovation and be at the forefront of the continued e-bike boom.”

He said the population rise in urban areas, combined with narrow roads and growing traffic has triggered a shift towards smart e-bikes as riders look for a stronger road presence with a long-lasting battery, anti-theft and smart light technology to ensure a better riding experience.
