A Nottingham start-up company has launched what it is calling the answer to commuter congestion in 海角视频 cities.

WAU Motors was founded in 2017 by Linas Pozerskis, Crystal Drury, and Tony Pun.

It has developed its flagship Model X e-bike - and it has already sold 拢320,000 worth of bikes in 40 days

The bike, which is assisted by an electronic motor, can accelerate to speeds of over 15 mph and has a range of up to 220 miles on a single charge.

Linas Pozerskis, chief executive of WAU, said: "Launching the new Model X to the public has taken some significant sacrifices from all of the founders.

"Each of us has regularly worked 100-hour weeks and couch-surfed to put every penny into the project and we are very proud of the result.

鈥淥ur team is ecstatic to show how the Model X provides a solution to the developing urban mobility problem. This fifth iteration of our e-bike is the result of years of real-world user testing here in and similar cities across the 海角视频.

鈥淎ll of the years put into perfecting the bike paid off. At the end of last year, we achieved funding from a range of 海角视频-based investors, which has enabled us to make our vision a reality.鈥

With Nottingham's congestion issues highlighted by lane closures on one of the city's major commuter routes - urgent bridge repair works to Clifton Bridge - the company's product launch date could not have had better timing. But it isn't just the timing that the firm is thankful for, it is the city itself.

Linas said: 鈥淲e couldn鈥檛 have developed this product to such a high level of finish anywhere else. Nottingham has proven to be a great place to do business. We have been able to learn from real user鈥檚 needs and reverse engineer the ideal solution by working together with city residents.

鈥淚n our first 40-days of trading, we sold over 拢320,000 worth of WAU bikes from our Midlands based distribution centre, which enables us to guarantee delivery to customers within 72 hours.鈥

Each Model X includes integrated front and rear lights, full GPS tracking, alarm, keys, a smartphone charger, and anti-puncture tyres.

Available through the government鈥檚 Cycle To Work Scheme, as well as through the brand's website, the WAU Model X, has a price tag starting from 拢1,897.00.
