North Wales factory workers agree pay deal after four month industrial dispute

Workers at a cable factory have accepted a new pay deal after a four month long dispute.

Unite members working for Prysmian Cables in Wrexham started a series of 24 hour strikes back in November.

At the time the union said the escalation of the dispute, which follows an overtime ban, is a result of the company’s failure to offer an “acceptable” pay increase for its workers.

Talks have continued in a bid to reach a settlement and yesterday Unite announced that a breakthrough had been made after an improved offer.

A spokesman said: “Unite the union members at Prysmian Cables in Wrexham have voted to accept the latest pay offer.

“We’re extremely proud of our members for standing strong during our dispute with the company and we will now push for a fair pay rise for the Prysmian workforce in 2022.”
