Economy Minister Vaughan Gething said he expects jobs at a business park left empty for 20 years in the 鈥渘ot-too-distant future鈥 after coming under pressure on the issue from Plaid and Tory members in the Senedd.
Plans for Parc Bryn Cegin in Bangor were first submitted in 2000 but the 90 acre industrial park has so far failed to secure any tenants despite European cash paying for infrastructure works in 2005.
Business Post revealed a fresh attempt to secure tenants last year - with Welsh Government in discussions over selling land for development.
But no further details have been released.
Plaid MS Si芒n Gwenllian, who represents Arfon in the Senedd, yesterday challenged Vaughan Gething to say when the first job will be created at Parc Bryn Cegin.
She said: 鈥淭he plain truth is that not a single job has been created at Parc Bryn Cegin since the site was purchased and adapted by the Welsh Government, despite the significant funds spent on the park and despite the promises made.鈥
North Wales Conservative MS Sam Rowlands said: 鈥淥ver 20 years of Welsh Labour Government control, we鈥檙e still yet to see any jobs created at Bryn Cegin Park in Bangor.鈥
In response the Economy Minister Mr Gething said: 鈥淥ver the last 12 months we have received significant interest on our development land at Parc Bryn Cegin. We are currently engaged with the local authority and a number of separate parties who have made or are looking to make offers to buy development plots at Bryn Cegin.
鈥淚 can鈥檛 give you an exact date on when the actual first job will be on site, because we鈥檙e still having conversations with those partners and we can鈥檛 surface all of those in public with named parties, but I鈥檝e had an update from my officials, and I think there is good cause to expect news in the not-too-distant future for jobs to go on that site.鈥
