Fabrication specialist Bilfinger is heading to Hull as it expands to deliver huge contracts won in nuclear.

The company has taken a significant site on West Carr Business Park, moving from Immingham as it enhances its Humber operations.

As reported, Bilfinger has won work valued at more than £400 million on Hinkley Point C.

A significant share of the 350 jobs it will create were tipped for the Humber, as it led a list of locations to benefit, including the headquarters in Warrington, Bristol and Somerset.

The two contracts are to deliver the design, procurement, supplier management, fabrication and construction of high quality pipework and specialist equipment for the new power station.

Now Bilfinger has been revealed as heading to the Sutton Fields Industrial Estate, having referenced a new fabrication facility “in Humberside” when announcing the opening of a new office in Teesside in February. Then it was eyeing a second quarter of 2021 launch.

West Carr was previously occupied by XPO Logistics, covering 200,000 sq ft across nine units.

When client and neighbour McBride, the aerosol specialist, closed in early 2019 with the loss of 117 jobs, it soon followed.
