Welsh spa business booming on back of 'hot tub parties' and health benefits

Family business Concept Spa has just opened the biggest hot tub showroom in North Wales

What is the Development Bank of Wales?

A family that set up a hot tub business with just four spas back in 2015 has now moved into the biggest tub showroom in North Wales.

Jack Glynn and his parents Mike and Heather started Concept Spa in Llangefni after seeing a gap in the market for luxury hot tubs.

They hoped to do a roaring trade on the back of demand for spas for leisure and social reasons, from holiday homes to “hot tub parties”.

But while this side of the market has boomed they have also been surprised by the level of demand from people wanting them for the health benefits.

This has seen the company grow year on year, with a second site in Porthmadog and a recent move to a new whopping 3,750 square feet showroom in Llangefni.

There are now eight people employed by the business and they hope to expand further in the future with a potential third site, and selling a further range of other outdoor living products.

Jack, 25, explained where they got the idea for the business.

He said: “I was working with my dad as an electrician and we had a contract servicing hot tubs in the area. We found there were some places we were going back to every month because of problems.
