Businesses within the Leicester and Leicestershire Enterprise Partnership (LLEP) area are being urged to use its services to keep up to speed on support during the coronavirus crisis.

The public/private sector organisation said its Business Gateway Growth Hub should be the first port of call for businesses seeking advice and information in these unprecedented times.

The online gateway has been collating all the details of the measures announced by government to try and help soften the economic blow of the shutdown.

The information is being uploaded daily.

A spokesman said: 鈥淭he web page is being updated seven days a week, as each new announcement is made.

鈥淏usinesses can be assured that the information they find on the Business Gateway website is the very latest in this ever-changing news cycle.鈥

As well as online help, Business Gateway鈥檚 advisers are also available to respond to businesses directly.

The service 鈥 accessed by filling in an enquiry form 鈥 is available seven days a week, with the advisers鈥 operating hours extended to 10am-2pm on Saturdays and Sundays.

Jon Egley, manager of the Business Gateway Growth Hub, said both the gateway and the LLEP will be active on social media throughout the crisis, posting the latest updates to Twitter and LinkedIn.

Each post includes a link to the Business Gateway website, so that businesses can read the latest news in greater detail.

He said: 鈥淭hese are unprecedented times, which have demanded an extraordinary effort from all in the Business Gateway team and the wider LLEP.

鈥淚鈥檓 pleased to say that we have been able to provide businesses with the very latest information on interventions such as the government鈥檚 Job Retention Scheme, Business interruption Loans or the new Self-Employment Income Support.

鈥淥ur Business Advisers are working tirelessly to answer queries and direct people to the most relevant information for them.

鈥淭hough not all businesses are on the front lines of the fight against coronavirus, we want to try to ensure that they don鈥檛 become the collateral damage of the crisis.

鈥淭he economy of Leicester and Leicestershire is mainly made up of SMEs 鈥 we will do all we can to support those businesses that are our economic lifeblood and that provide our region with its unique character.鈥

While the Business Gateway provides direct support, its parent organisation, the LLEP is part of the region's strategic response to the crisis, called the Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland Local Resilience Forum.

It is co-ordinating business intelligence with its partners including business support and membership organisations; councils; business services; employers; and employer groups to get a better picture of the impact on businesses of the coronavirus crisis.

This data will help to plan the response to providing the most relevant support to businesses and help to central government help with business recovery plans when the emergency is over.

The Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) is also asking businesses to provide intelligence on how the coronavirus crisis is affecting them. Email intel@beis.gov.uk.
