A sole trader who used her connections to set up a human resources consultancy says her firm's reputation is building almost a year after winning at the Nottingham Post Women in Business Awards.

Rebecca Bull launched Nottingham-based My HR Hub to offer outsourced HR services to small companies and start ups.

In the first two years the firm's client list jumped from three to 25 and since winning the Sole Trader of the Year title in 2018, Ms Bull has gone on to create My HR Club, a business community for professionals with HR responsibilities.

She said: "It’s another year on and another year more mature, it definitely has not declined, and our reputation is building. The recognition you get and from such a great award, I do feel it has given the business a lot more credibility.

"When you work on your own you have nobody to tell you you are doing a good job and that was great for me for and for my confidence, that it is recognised and that I am making a difference. The award made it all worthwhile."

Ms Bull grew the company through the connections she made after around two decades within the industry.

Following her win she said she wanted to give back to those getting started in the business world and in the last year this has included offering placements through Nottingham Trent University.

Discussing the awards in general, she added: "I think they are good to have. I am from Nottingham, I was born and bred here.
