Fast food giant KFC wants to open 26 new restaurants and drive thrus in the East Midlands as part of a drive to increase its footprint across the º£½ÇÊÓÆµ.
The chain's target areas include Nottingham, Derby, Leicester and Lincoln.
The KFC concept was first introduced to the º£½ÇÊÓÆµ in 1965 with its first branch in Preston, but today it operates more than 900 outlets in the country.
A spokesman for the company said: "We have bold ambitions to have over 1,000 stores in the º£½ÇÊÓÆµ and Ireland by 2020 and we are looking to build over 50 new stores a year."
Also among the fried chicken group's wish list is the intu Broadmarsh in Nottingham, which is currently undergoing a multi-million pound regeneration.
When complete in 2021 the centre, which will be glass fronted, will be a leisure destination with Hollywood Bowl, Light Cinema, shops and restaurants.
The company remains tight-lipped on potential shops coming into the new-look centre.
