A luxury wash and lifestyle brand has announced plans to scale up the business.

The Goodwash Company sells its products directly to customers through its website, as well as wholesale sales to retailers, luxury hospitality and corporate businesses, plus it launched a permanent retail store at the Goodsheds in Barry in 2020.

The company has experienced unprecedented growth over the past two years and, despite the pandemic, the pair have continued to win awards for their luxury, ethical wash brand while driving the business to the forefront of social enterprise.

Now, the company is looking to expand, with its headcount to increase with four new full-time roles and two part-time positions being created, on top of its current two full-time and three part-time positions.

The business is looking at funding options to help it meet its targets, with plans to raise investment in the fourth quarter 2021. It is aiming to double turnover this year and double again in 2022.

The GoodWash Company, which is based on the premise of 鈥榗hanging the world one wash at a time鈥, was founded in 2017 by Mandy Powell, a former Welsh International hockey and touch rugby player who previously worked as corporate business and marketing manager, and Kelly Davies, a former Welsh football international.

Ms Powell said: "Goodwash's purpose and luxury products have really resonated with our fabulous customers since we launched.

"They understand the social impact a business that focuses on profit for purpose can make, alongside experiencing our award winning, cruelty free products. To keep providing an excellent service to our customers, add breadth to our social impact and be able to compete on the global stage we know we need to become more agile and now is the right time to make some changes to the way we run the business."

Ms Davies added: "In order to do this we have an ambitious roadmap in place for the next six months. We are increasing our operational capacity, modifying our roles and creating new, local employment.

"This will not only allow us to maximise sales and profits that will be used via the Goodwash Foundation CIC to increase the support to charities, groups and projects which improve the lives of people and animals, but will also lay the foundations for an equity raise later this year to support global growth."

Ms Davies has recently stepped down from the day-to-day operations of the business.

"Founding Goodwash is up there with my proudest achievements. Starting out from bottling in Mandy鈥檚 garage, getting up at 5am to sell at Christmas markets to featuring in Michelin Star restaurants, John Lewis, Harrods, and starring in a national eBay advert, it has been a whirlwind," she said.

"Our aim was to also inspire mindset and behavioural change amongst the public, encouraging them to think carefully about every purchase they make and the positive difference it could make in the world 鈥 we have so many examples we could draw upon of achieving that.鈥

Ms Powell added: "This is a natural evolution for the business to maximise its potential to 鈥榗hange the world one wash at a time鈥. I am excited to lead the business into its next phase, just think of the social good we can deliver with those volumes of sales.鈥"

Goodwash also plan to open a local hub in Barry in the autumn of 2021 to provide manufacturing capacity for their hand made soap bars and candles, which will create both volunteering and employment opportunities, whilst supporting local disadvantaged members of the community.
