Kathryn Boyd, who has been a solicitor at Muckle LLP since 2020, has recently returned from maternity leave and is now stepping into a new role as an associate solicitor in the firm’s agriculture, estates and rural property team. Ms Boyd was promoted in November last year after being recommended by partner and head of team, David Towns. Her promotion highlights Muckle’s commitment to recognising outstanding talent.

Now back working within the team, she will manage a range of landed estate and rural property matters, while also stepping up to contribute to the firm’s strategic planning.

She said: “The support throughout my maternity leave and return to work from Muckle has been excellent. Knowing the firm is still investing in you, even when you’ve got a lot going on outside of work, is incredibly encouraging. It means a lot to feel that level of support while becoming a new mum.”

Lloyd Hall has secured the first internship at fund manager FW Capital as part of its strategy to develop future talent. Mr Hall joins the North East team and will be based in the Newcastle office. He will work across key departments across the firm, with a strong focus on understanding the investment funds that FW Capital manages.

He will work with colleagues across the region that will support him through mentorship, structured training activities and client interaction.

Ward Hadaway has expanded its agriculture, rural business and estates team with a series of appointments. The team is led by Tom Wills, who has joined to become head of agriculture, rural business and estates. He is joined by Alison Hall, head of private client and Jamie Brown who will complement the existing team which includes Stefan Bainbridge, Alex Cox, Andrew Facer and Nick Gholkar. The team also includes newly appointed rural private client specialists Kirsty Allen, Megan Bradley and rural property solicitor Sam Watts.

Newcastle Theatre Royal Trust has welcomed three new trustees to its board. The appointments have been made following an open recruitment campaign for individuals to support and guide the growth of the theatre and the implementation of its strategic plan.

They are Carolyn Ramsbotham, Patricia Alexander and Alison Currie. Ms Alexander and Ms Currie will join the finance and general purposes committee. They join fellow members Nick Swales, chair, Ray Mills, vice chair, Julie Blackie, Lorna Edwards, Ben Fletcher-Watson, Scott Holland, Alison Jones and Andrew Roberts.

Newcastle-based civil and structural engineers RWO has boosted its specialist commercial and residential teams with four new starters. Joshua Darwood and Joseph Horn are appointed as graduate structural engineer and apprentice civil technician respectively in the residential team.

They are joined by new commercial team members Jasmin Jose, a graduate structural engineer, and structural engineer Alan MacLeod, who brings design, project oversight, planning and technical experience to the role.
