A global security firm has pledged to create 1,000 jobs in the North East after choosing a business park in the region for its new site.

Verisure, which is Europe’s largest burglar alarm provider, has signed up for offices at the Quorum Business Park, on North Tyneside, and is advertising roles in its marketing and operations teams.

The company, which is investing £3m in the move, expects to have 100 people in place this year, but says that will grow to around 1,000 with roles in customer service, technical support, field operations, training, IT, telesales, HR and finance.

Verisure has signed an 11-year lease at the 104,000 sq ft Neon Building, and will be offering some of the jobs available to existing staff at its site in Brentford, west London.

But it is that thought most of the jobs will be taken by people from the North East.

Verisure managing director, Gabino Sanchez, said: “We have chosen North Tyneside as the ideal location for our new site after deep analysis of more than 15 of the º£½ÇÊÓƵ’s larger urban areas. It stood out for many reasons including the friendliness of the people, the incredible quality of life and the high standard of education.

“We have been tremendously encouraged by the expert guidance, support and enthusiasm of Invest North East England, who we were first introduced to in 2018 and greatly assisted with information and the coordination of a number of insightful visits to the region.

“Likewise, North Tyneside Council and the North of Tyne Combined Authority were a hugely positive influence on us and convinced us that North Tyneside was the perfect location from which Verisure can meet its very ambitious growth targets.
