A housing developer has revealed plans to build hundreds of homes over 41.5 acres of green belt land in Aldridge.

Wain Estates Limited hopes to build up to 650 homes, a neighbourhood centre and public open space.

The area off Bosty Lane covers mainly agricultural grassland, Lodge Farm, some ancient woodland and the Dingle.

The plans were revealed in an Environmental Impact Assessment submitted to Walsall Council.

The developer has accepted that due to the size of the project, there is 'potential for significant environmental effects to arise'.

Access to the entire estate would be gained from Bosty Lane and plans for the neighbourhood centre will be decided with Walsall Council and statutory consultees.

The developer said at this stage the centre could include a care home, shops, gym or office, school or place of worship, community hall, public house or takeaway.

The next stage is for Wain Estates Limited to submit an outline planning application with further details.
