A Hull businessman has spoken of his success at launching a luxury holiday park in North Yorkshire and supporting the city鈥檚 thriving caravan sector.

Mark Goodson, who previously spent 25 years as co-director at Hull-based Genesis Business Systems, opened Wayside Lakes near Pickering and hasn鈥檛 looked back since.

The park was recently rated 鈥榚xcellent鈥 by holiday inspectorate AA, and has got 2019 off to a flyer with over 拢300,000 of caravan sales.

Holiday homes on the site are bought from Hull manufacturers including Swift and Willerby, as the North Yorkshire park continues to support the city鈥檚 caravan industry.

Mr Goodson said: 鈥淭hese sales, combined with the AA鈥檚 tremendous endorsement, adds up a stunning first half of 2019 for us 鈥 and bodes really well for the year. This is despite the uncertainty of Brexit and the difficult political times.

鈥淚ndeed Brexit may well encourage our key demographic, the Grey Pound, to holiday in the 海角视频. We currently have three demonstration Lodges at Wayside Lakes and four new static caravans at the Holiday Park.

鈥淲e are now experiencing strong interest in both the Lakes and the Park on top of the sales we have already made.鈥

The award-winning Wayside Lakes development is situated next to the successful Wayside Holiday Park, which the Goodson family have owned since 1975.

Wayside Lakes is the latest venture for Mr Goodson, who spent 25 years as co-director of his own IT firm Genesis Business Systems in Goulton Street, Hull, and still has a stake in the company.

The five-star development can cater for up to 38 exclusive lodges. Already half the lodges of site have been sold, with strong interest coming in for others from across the north of England.

鈥淟ocation, of course, is crucial,鈥 Mr Goodson said.

鈥淲ayside Lakes is ideally situated within easy reach of Yorkshire's breath-taking coastline, historic market towns, world-class heritage and mile upon mile of superb walking country.

鈥淲e are already attracting nature-lovers and bird-spotters and we believe that our new lodge owners will find the natural environment incredibly uplifting and joyful.鈥

Run by three successive generations of the Goodson family, dedicated to personal service, quality and stewardship of the land, the original Wayside Holiday park development provides static caravan holiday home luxury, together with a provision for seasonal touring caravans.

Mark Goodson, though, has come relatively late to the holiday park world.

Whilst he has always had an interest in the family business, he was a co-director of Genesis Business Systems from 1986 to 2011, when he joined his father at Wayside Park.
