Accountants and business advisers, BDO, hosted a housebuilders鈥 discussion dinner at Edmunds Fine Dining in Birmingham, to share the key findings from its Homes for All report.

BDO spoke to 50 海角视频 housebuilders across the country to canvass views on the key challenges facing the industry and how to overcome these.

BDO鈥檚 research reveals that 95 per cent of board level executives at 海角视频 housebuilders think that Government targets are unachievable and that planning red tape, limited funding options and lack of land were the biggest barriers to building in the 海角视频.

At the dinner guests heard from Mark Anslow, Partner at BDO and Clive Skidmore, Head of Regeneration and Development at Birmingham City Council, who shared his views and experiences in the Birmingham/West Midlands market along with the council鈥檚 ideas as to how more houses can be built.

The dinner was attended by a range of contacts operating in the housing market in the West Midlands.

Mark Anslow said: 鈥淭he huge gap in current housing supply and the challenges the sector faces in dealing with this are well documented. The solution is in both private and public sector property leaders鈥 hands and tonight鈥檚 debate demonstrated the energy and enthusiasm to resolves issues around planning, funding, land supply and affordable housing.

鈥淚鈥檓 confident these local leaders can work around most of these issues to close much of the housing gap, but the Government does need to listen and support change as reflected in this debate and BDO鈥檚 Homes for All report.鈥
