Birmingham's dining sector will welcome a new addition next week when a Japanese 'sando' shop opens.
Called Shokupan, the 2,128 sq ft store will launch on Thursday in the old
Shokupan will have 35 seats and serve hot and cold sandos which are sandwiches made with a sweet, milk-based bread called shokupan. It will also serve pizzas and baked goods and the new restaurant has created 20 jobs.
The company said it was planning to open eight new venues nationwide by 2025 and is exploring franchise opportunities.

The company was previously known as Gupshup and had a shop in Birmingham's Colmore Row
Founder Wasi Taj said: "Demand for our sandos surprised us. We were selling out at our Colmore Row shop by 2pm so it was clear that we needed to move to bigger premises and invest in our own supply chain.

The move to Grand Central and the launch of the bakery has been supported by an undisclosed funding package from HSBC º£½ÇÊÓÆµ.
Relationship manager Raja Khan said: "Shokupan has grown immensely since its inception four years ago, from two men and a kitchen table to a food delivery phenomenon during covid and more recently as a firm favourite lunchtime spot for workers across the Colmore Row business district.
"We're delighted to be supporting Shokupan as the business continues to grow its presence in the West Midlands and beyond."
