Everards Brewery has gained outline planning permission to build a 120 room hotel next to its Leicestershire home.

The Everards family wants to build the hotel and eight office blocks at Everards Meadows, not far from Junction 21 of the M1.

The site already includes a new brewery and beer hall, as well as a cycle shop and coffee shop and 70 acres of public green space next alongside the River Soar. Everards relocated there in 2019 after selling its previous home across the road to Fosse Park which has since redeveloped it.

The hotel would have a maximum of 120 rooms with parking, and there would be around 100,000 sq ft of office space in with separate parking for that. It would be built on land closer to Soar Valley Way and the B4114 than the existing buildings and would mirror there design.

Blaby District Councillors have now approved the outline plans, meaning work can continue on the finer detail which will go before councillors at a later date.

That will include the final shape of the development, the mix of building types and sizes, appearance, and landscaping.

Coun Nick Chapman, vice-chair of planning, said: “This is an extremely exciting proposal for both Everards and the district, and we were delighted to approve the plans.

“We have worked closely with Everards to get this application to an acceptable position, and we have no doubt that the final product will be as well thought out, and as popular as Everards Meadows is currently.
