Data firm Kagool moves to Rum Runner Works

Analytics specialist is the latest to move into office building on site of famous old nightclub

Kagool has signed up for space at Rum Runner Works in Birmingham

A data firm has signed a deal to take office space at the former home of a famous Birmingham nightclub.

Global data and analytics specialist Kagool has agreed a new ten-year lease for 8,100 sq ft in the canalside Rum Runner Works building, off Broad Street.

Previously based in Coventry, it has joined existing technology occupier Ricoh Digital.

The two-storey Rum Runner Works at Regency Wharf was previously home to Jimmy Spices restaurant but now has 16,000 sq ft of office space following a renovation programme which was completed in 2021.

It is named after the Rum Runner nightclub which played host to Duran Duran and UB40 and occupied part of the site until 1987 when it was demolished to make way for the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Bridge Street.

Dan Barlow, group chief executive of Kagool, said: "We're really excited to move our HQ to Birmingham, the heart of the fastest-growing tech region in the º£½ÇÊÓƵ.

"Birmingham offers a dynamic business environment, a diverse talent pool and strategic proximity to key partners and markets, positioning us for even greater success in the years ahead. The Rum Runner Works office is an amazing building which fits very well with our company.
