Welsh coach firm to trial zero emissions bus on Mid-Wales routes

Bus and coach operator Lloyd's Coaches of Machynlleth is set to trial the first full size battery electric, zero emissions bus to operate on services in Mid Wales.

The company will trial the British built ADL Enviro 200EV working in partnership with Chinese leading battery manufacture BYD.

The 100% electric, zero emissions vehicle will operate on the company's bus routes around Aberystwyth and Machynlleth areas for next 10 days.

It is fitted out internally to very high specifications with low floor entry, laminate flooring, air conditioning, 33 leather seats with seatback USB charging sockets.

In addition, the vehicle is trialling Smart Vision High Definition cameras and LCD screens replacing driver mirrors to improve drivers visability and reduce the risk of accidents.

Lloyd's Coaches Operations Manager Dan Lloyd said: "Buses will play a vital role in the post Covid-19 recover and will help provide a vital boost to the local economy.

"We at Lloyd's are keen to try out the latest new technology on offer for our buses of the future to reduce our carbon emissions.
