Triple round-the-world yachtsman Conrad Humphreys has launched a technology start-up providing electric propulsion products to the marine leisure and recreation market.
The move comes on the back of his Plymouth marketing company Sport Environment’s track record of working with leading technology brands including LG, Motorola and 海角视频 mobile device manufacturer Bullitt Group on sport and environment programmes.
Blue Electric is now the new 海角视频 dealer for ePropulsion, the global leader in electric drive systems for boats and a business that is deeply integrated in water sports and innovation.
Since 2001, Sport Environment, based at Turnchapel Wharf in Plymouth, has been involved with several high-tech sailing projects, including managing Motorola’s global sponsorship of the 2004/5 Vendee Globe Race campaign.
It is currently providing the on water operational support for the Great Britain Sail GP event in Plymouth, part of a global sailing and entertainment series founded by America’s Cup winning skipper Sir Russell Coutts and Oracle Founder Larry Ellison.

Blue Electric is the new technology division of Sport Environment and aims to accelerate the adoption of clean and renewable technologies in the marine and leisure industry.
Manufacturer of electric marine motors, ePropulsion was founded by four former engineering students from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology each with a passion for watersports and protecting the planet.
After six years developing their pioneering direct drive system, ePropulsion electric motors can power everything from a SUP or kayak through to passenger vessels and ocean cruising catamarans.
The direct drive means the electric motors are efficient compared to conventional marine combustion motors, operating with considerably higher torque whilst using less power. Without any need for gears, cooling systems and moving parts, the motors are maintenance free, highly efficient and economic to run. Built in hydro-generation provides alternative recharging options whilst under sail. As well as being environmentally kinder to the oceans the highly efficient lithium ion batteries are recyclable too.
