Uber-backed Autocab eyes 200 new roles after moving to city centre landmark

A deal to acquire the business was announced in August 2020

A taxi dispatch software provider, which was acquired by Uber in 2020, is to create up to 200 jobs by 2025 after it relocates to a Manchester city centre landmark office building.

Autocab has signed a deal to move from Cheadle Royal Business Park to No.2 Circle Square.

The business has taken 20,000 sq ft of workspace and will join the likes of global technology provider Hewlett Packard Enterprise, multinational construction technology supplier Hilti and professional services firm Accenture.

The move comes after a deal to acquired the cloud-tech business was announced by Uber in August 2020 and was subsequently cleared by the CMA.

Over the last five years, Autocab's SaaS revenue has increased by 400% and its headcount has risen by 30%.

Chief executive Safa Alkateb said: "We have some exciting growth plans, but we can only realise them if we can attract the industry’s best established and emerging talent.

"Circle Square will be a real draw with the fantastic workspace we’ll be able to create there, a thriving new community on our doorstep and being based right in the heart of the city region’s innovation economy.
