A Japanese cyber security firm is creating 12 jobs at its new European based in Belfast City Centre.
Nihon Cyber Defense (NCD), which is headquartered in Tokyo, said the move is in response to growing demand for its cyber security services in Northern Ireland. It follows its recently announced partnership with BT to supply incident management services to the Northern Ireland Civil Service through a public sector shared network contract.
The firm has also moved into new offices in Law Society House on Belfast’s Victoria Street, which include a security operations centre for managing cyber security incidents.

Nihon has been growing its presence in Northern Ireland in recent months and hired Ally Burns, a former investigating officer from the Police Service of Northern Ireland earlier this year to head the Belfast office.
It was also awarded the National Cyber Security Centre’s (NCSC) Cyber Incident Response (CIR) Level 2 Assured Service Provider status through CREST
The managing director for Nihon’s European business Dougie Grant welcomed the accolade.
“The award of assured service provider from NCSC is further validation of the quality of NCD’s team and the services we provide to clients around the world,” he said. “There has been an acceleration globally in the volume and variety of cyber-attacks facing all types of organisations, so there has never been a greater need for expert advice on how to identify and assess risks and to prevent and manage incidents.
“Our team in Belfast continues to grow and it is our intention to recruit up to 12 new staff in the year ahead.”
