The company behind Tech Week Humber has struck a partnership deal with the Dubai Multi Commodities Centre (DMCC) that will help local firms enter the Middle East market.

GBE Connect, the founder of Tech Week Humber, has revealed it has become official partners with the DMCC - and become the first business to do so in the North of England.

The DMCC was founded in 2002 by the Government of Dubai to provide a market and the financial infrastructure to allow commodities to be traded in the country. It is also the biggest free trade zone in the UAE.

Through the partnership it is hoped that businesses from around the Humber will be able to grow and expand into the Dubai market, where demand for British tech is high.

It will also create opportunities for local firms to meet their counterparts in the UAE, potentially opening the doors for collaboration.

Antonio Tombanane, director at GBE Connect, said: “We are delighted to become official partners of DMCC. To be the first company in the North of England makes it that extra bit special.

“We can’t wait to start working with them and exploring the possibilities for collaboration in the Humber region.”

Tech Week Humber is set to take place next month on the week beginning November 9.
