Tech firms win backing in global growth ambitions

Quintet will work with experts on new programme aimed at growing local companies internationally

Winners of the West Midlands Global Growth Programme, run by the West Midlands Growth Company

Five Birmingham tech enterprises will see their innovation exported internationally as winners of a new business competition.

Led by the West Midlands Growth Company in partnership with the Department for International Trade, winners will receive fully funded consultancy about exporting from OCO Global covering areas such as market research, strategy and business development.

The five winners are biomedical innovation company Adapttech, Energym which specialises in tech-led fitness, employee wellness firm Lumien, Complygate which works in candidate screening for employers and cyber security business Metcloud.

They will now work with the programme to expand into new international markets including the US, Canada and Asia.

The West Midlands Global Growth Programme is being delivered as part of the 2022 Commonwealth Games Business and Tourism Programme which is aiming to strengthen ties between the º£½ÇÊÓÆµ and Commonwealth markets.

Neil Rami, chief executive of the West Midlands Growth Company, said: "Adapttech, Energym, Lumien, Complygate and Metcloud exemplify the many ambitious, leading-edge enterprises that are currently emerging from the West Midlands - the º£½ÇÊÓÆµ's fastest-growing tech cluster.

"Chosen for their innovation and preparedness to begin exporting, these five winners have been able to capitalise on the region's hotbed of young talent, wealth of resources and extensive support available for start-ups.
