A Bristol company that has developed an online platform so businesses can communicate with remote employees has landed $2million (£1.6million) in series A funding.

OurPeople secured the finance from Alpine Meridian - an investment firm specialising in digital media, e-commerce and healthcare - and entrepreneur Robert Neveu, who has joined the business as managing partner.

The company, which has now raised $3million in funding, works in industries with large numbers of deskless workers.

It counts organisations such as West Ham United Foundation, Virgin Active º£½ÇÊÓƵ, Paulton’s Park and Serco Leisure among its users.

OurPeople said it has seen “record usage” of its platform during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Ross McCaw, chief executive and founder, said: “I used to work in the fitness industry, where everyday I could see there was an issue around communications with remote workforces, which stretched across many different sectors with deskless workers.

“We know that an engaged and informed employee is essential, regardless where they are based. To address this disconnect, we built a powerful yet simple to use tool that allows employers to engage and communicate securely with their targeted workforce.”

Mr Neveu said: “Before this crisis there was already a desperate need for a tool allowing managers to communicate directly with their remote team members.
