Sound City 2020: The indie music festival that gives 'unrivalled' help to Liverpool's creative businesses

It's a multi-award winning music event - but fewer know about the various B2B initiatives

The Sound City festival taking place for the 13th time this May is one of the most important dates in the Liverpool city region’s music calendar.

The multi-award winning event to be held at the Baltic Triangle will see Friendly Fires and Pale Waves headline, taking place in 16 venues across the area including pop-up bars, clubs, warehouses, workshops and scrap-yards.

It’s been such a hit, other similar events based on the Liverpool concept have been launched around the world.

Sound City is a record label too - and its partnership with Modern Sky Entertainment - China’s biggest independent music company - means that no other music firm in the North has the kind of investment and international resource that the Liverpool firm can now offer.

Also renowned is the festival's business conference element - Sound City +, which hosts panels, workshops and ‘In Conversations’ with a wide range of industry professionals - this year to be centred around the British Music Experience inside the Cunard Building.

But what fewer will be aware of is the vast array of other business development schemes run by the company throughout the year - and that Sound City is actually “so much more than just the festival”.

These schemes, Sound City said, culminate in an "unrivalled contribution" to the development of creative businesses and artists across the North and beyond.
