Social media guru Steven Bartlett joins fast-growing food replacement brand Huel

The appointment is his first since leaving Social Chain in 2020

Steve Bartlett of Huel

The co-founder and former chief executive of a Manchester-based social media marketing company has joined the board of a £72m-turnover food replacement company.

Steven Bartlett, who helped set up Social Chain, has become a non-executive director at Huel.

The news comes after the company revealed that sales were up 36 per cent this January compared to the same time last year.

The cumulative success of the last 12 months has seen the brand increase its headcount by 75 per cent.

Bartlett has taken on the role since he stepped down as Social Chain’s chief executive last year.
The entrepreneur launched the business from his Manchester bedroom in 2014 with Dom McGregor Do after dropping out of university age 20.

The business had a market valuation exceeding €200m when taken public in 2019.

Huel founder Julian Hearn said: “Steven has a phenomenal entrepreneurial style and creative mindset that will add significant value to Huel.

"He built his first company from scratch and grew it to employ over 500 people, as well as establishing a number one podcast all before his 28th birthday.
