Slots are filling up for events taking part in the two week Leicestershire Innovation Festival next month.
Organisers of the celebration of hoped to have 20 events diaried in for the fortnight, with eight already booked into the calendar and a further six awaiting final scheduling confirmation.
The festival format has been extended to a fortnight this year to enable people to attend all events after last year’s Innovation Week saw around 30 sessions packed into a busy five-day schedule.
This year it runs from Monday, February 14 to Friday, February 25 and events include the 2022 LeicestershireLive Innovation Awards, due to take place on .
The festival celebrates the contribution of innovation in Leicester and Leicestershire businesses to the local economy, productivity and regional growth.
Organisers are particularly keen to hear from microbusinesses and SMEs who would like to stage events showing off how they are making changes and business improvements.
Interested businesses will need to move quickly as the deadline for registrations is Monday, January 31.
In collaboration with the Leicester and Leicestershire Enterprise Partnership (LLEP) the festival will be officially launched at Space Park Leicester on Valentine’s Day and close with Innovation Friday at the University of Leicester.

Morningside Pharmaceuticals founder Dr Nik Kotecha OBE chairs the LLEP’s Innovation Board.
He said he wanted the festival to recognise the work that is going on at businesses of all sizes across Leicester and Leicestershire.
He said: “We know that organisations from microbusinesses, through SMEs and social enterprises, to large manufacturers and service providers have had to change their ways of working over the last couple of years.
“We also know that many new businesses have been founded as people living, studying and working in our region see opportunities to address challenges and make a difference. We want to hear about all of those ideas.”
Organisations have been invited to put on their own events, based on an innovation theme. The earlier events are registered, the sooner they will be listed on the festival directory and in promotional material.
Dr Kotecha said: “Innovation is not just about big projects, such as our region’s global reputation for satellite technology.
“We are also very interested in how all businesses are responding creatively to the challenges they have faced in recent years.

“We want to hear about how entrepreneurs are using new thinking and methods of working to adapt, continuously improve productivity, and make their products or services more competitive in their markets as they grow their businesses and create jobs in Leicester and Leicestershire.”
As well as independent businesses getting involved there will also be events organised by festival partners including the LLEP Business Gateway, University of Leicester, De Montfort University, Loughborough University, Midlands Engine and Innovate 海角视频.
