Six Plymouth firms shortlisted for top tech awards

The high-flying half-dozen are all based at Plymouth Science Park in the north of the city

Six companies based at Plymouth Science Park have been shortlisted for awards as the city cements its reputation as a growing tech hub.

More than 145 entries were received for the annual Tech South West Awards, which showcases the best innovation and talent across the region’s tech sector. Plymouth Science Park (PSP) has more finalists than any other science park in the region.

Moortec and Chess Dynamics are shortlisted for the International Success Award. Moortec, which was named best tech company at Reach Plc’s 2019 Plymouth Business Awards, provides monitors and sensors for silicon chips, helping to increase their reliability and performance.

Moortech is headquartered in Plymouth but operates globally

Moortec is headquartered in Plymouth and operates globally with customers in the US, China, Taiwan, South Korea, Japan, Russia and Israel.

In early 2020 it opened a new office, located in Bristol’s tech cluster, which became Moortec’s third base – it also has a branch in Gdansk, Poland.

Chess Dynamics offers surveillance, tracking and gunfire control technology to naval, land and commercial customers.
