The US creator of the premium home technology brand SharkNinja, maker of Shark floorcare products and Ninja kitchen appliances, is investing in a new 海角视频 headquarters in Leeds.
Euro-pro Europe Ltd, is moving into new offices at Century Way, Thorpe Park, having outgrown its current headquarters in Wakefield where it has been based since 2014, when it entered the 海角视频.
It is taking a five-year lease on more than 16,000 sq ft of office space as part of a major European expansion programme.
The investment has been supported by the Leeds City Region Local Enterprise Partnership to ensure the company, which is growing rapidly, remains within the Yorkshire region.
Jon Wright, SharkNinja鈥檚 senior director of HR in Europe, said: 鈥淲e are moving to Thorpe Park as part of the significant growth the business has incurred over the last few years. Shark is the 海角视频鈥檚 fastest growing vacuum cleaner brand and the 海角视频鈥檚 best-selling upright vacuum cleaner brand.
鈥淲e moved into our current unit at Calder Park in Wakefield in 2014 with fewer than 20 people and will have more than 100 employees based in Leeds. We have approximately 230 employees across the 海角视频.
鈥淲e needed a site which could support continued growth, attract strong talent from the region and represent our European head office as we drive our EU growth moving forward.
鈥淭he enhanced office space will allow us to work more efficiently with our international groups, using video conferencing and provide a great platform to showcase our market-leading products to retailers.鈥
The company鈥檚 sales and marketing staff will be based in Leeds. It also has a research and development hub in London, one of three international hubs in the 海角视频, US and China, with engineers working collaboratively in different time zones to allow new products to be developed from concept to completion within weeks.
Founded and headquartered just outside Boston in the US, the brand was launched as Euro-Pro in 1998 by Mark Rosenzweig before rebranding to SharkNinja three years ago.
It is now a $1.6 billion global business, with 1,700 staff.
Roger Marsh OBE, chair of Leeds City Region LEP and NP11, said: 鈥淚鈥檓 delighted that through the Growth Service, the LEP has supported SharkNinja to retain their headquarters in the Leeds City Region.
鈥淚t鈥檚 vital that we continue to support growing businesses to drive economic growth and create more jobs, and I encourage all to get in touch and access the support available.鈥
Knight Frank advised both SharkNinja and the landlord, Canal & River Trust, in what is one of the biggest out-of-town office deals in Yorkshire this year.
Elizabeth Ridler, partner with Knight Frank, said: 鈥淲e were delighted to be involved in both sides of this important deal. It is a real testament to Thorpe Park that a successful company like SharkNinja should base its northern 海角视频 headquarters here.鈥
