One of Hull’s leading business figures has been honoured for his work in broadband delivery across three decades.
Sean Royce,Quickline Communications’ chief executive, was presented with the Outstanding Contribution Award at a key industry event. Currently pioneering work for hard-to-reach communities, with innovative technological solutions delivering key government contracts, his previous postings at city giant KCom also saw groundbreaking initiatives delivered, with a lasting legacy established.
Having been behind the early leading commercial ‘fast internet’ services using ADSL technology and pioneering TV and video on demand services, it was the full fibre network for Hull that has brought the biggest impact, with Mr Royce convincing stakeholders it was both viable and achievable.

The Independent Networks Cooperative Association has now recognised the work that regularly puts the area at the top of the connectivity charts, spawning a strong tech community and initiatives like the £22 million C4DI development, while fueling the ambition to become a co-working capital of the 海角视频.
Mr Royce said: “I’m honoured to receive the Outstanding Contribution Award. This recognition is not just a testament to my efforts, but to the hard work and dedication of the teams I’ve had the privilege to work with over the past 30 years.
“I’ve been in the fortunate position to be involved in and lead some truly incredible projects and now, at Quickline, I remain committed to our mission of connecting rural communities to a world of possibilities and look forward to continuing our efforts to make a positive impact in hard-to-reach locations across Yorkshire and Lincolnshire.”
The Tigers Sport and Education Trust chair spent almost 20 years at KCom, rising to managing director, before moving to Quickline as it was acquired by a major Canadian investment house in early 2021.
