The boss of a leading global provider of intravenous (IV) therapy and vitamin injections worth £100m has revealed the shocking discrimination she received due to her Northern accent when trying to launch her career in the º£½ÇÊÓƵ - and that she ultimately had to leave to pursue her ambitions.

Sarah Lomas, founder and CEO of med-tech firm Reviv, whose global headquarters are now based in Manchester, has spoken exclusively to BusinessLive.

Since the coronavirus crisis, Sarah, who contracted the disease herself, has led her firm to switch to non-profit, creating a support network among other initiatives.

The trend of IV has grown over recent years, and involves vitamins and other substances being administered directly into the blood. Firms promoting IV say it can cure hangovers, boost the immune system and bring skin benefits.

Set up in 2013, Sarah said it always her aim for Reviv to become the consumer choice in preventative health - however it's not been an easy ride.

Sarah, from Denton, left school at age 16, starting out her career as an apprentice in financial services, working in quality control.

"It wasn't a huge role but it gave me access to board meetings at a very young age. I would have to attend them to give updates.

"But I was told very early on by a head of department that if I wanted to progress my career, I would need elocution lessons.
