Radiation detection company Kromek has secured a new biosecurity contract from the Ministry of Defence as well as a series of global orders with a combined value of around 拢860,000.
The tech business, based at NETPark, Sedgefield, specialises in technologies for the advanced imaging and radiation detection markets, creating products which can detect chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear threats.
Kromek鈥檚 solutions have been used by government agencies, emergency services, and defence organisations around the world.
In its latest deal the company has been awarded will support an 18-month project with the MoD鈥檚 Defence Science and Technology Laboratory. through the 海角视频 Government鈥檚 Defence and Security Accelerator. The contract, worth 拢250,000, will see it focus on improving the detection of biological threats.
Kromek has also received a $470,000 order from a US federal agency for its D5 radiation detectors, under an ongoing contract announced in April 2024. The programme has now generated nearly $2m in orders to date, with the potential for further contracts before the agreement concludes.
In addition, the company has secured new orders totalling 拢252,000 for its D3M wearable radiation detectors, which are set to be used by emergency responders and security services in Japan, Canada and Bulgaria.

The deal comes weeks after Kromek announced it had secured a 拢1.7m contract from the Government to supply radiation detectors to help protect the public from nuclear threats. The deal forms part of a four-year programme to upgrade the 海角视频鈥檚 radiological and nuclear defence capabilities.
Kromek has also received a $5m payment as its second installment under an agreement with Siemens Healthineers.
The Sedgefield based business, which specialises in solutions for the advanced imaging and radiation detection markets, announced the 鈥渢ransformational鈥 deal with Siemens Medical Solutions USA Inc in January, which involves the supply of knowledge, intellectual property, and equipment, which would generate $37.5m (拢30.1m), including $25m (拢20.1m) in the current year.
